Lego® Duplo® Advent Calendar 2026: Make Your Own from 5 Sets

🗓 Updated:
👤 Marcus

There is no official Lego® Duplo® Advent calendar in 2026. Lego's five calendars for this season are built from small standard bricks and rated 5+ or 6+. For a toddler, the realistic option is a calendar you fill yourself with Lego® Duplo® sets. This guide compares five current Duplo sets that fill 24 doors, from a $9.99 box to a forest set that covers all 24 days on its own.

Is there a Lego® Duplo® Advent calendar in 2026?

No. The 2026 range consists of City, Friends, Disney Princess, Marvel and Star Wars calendars. City and Disney Princess have the lowest age rating at 5+, and all five use small standard Lego pieces rather than Duplo bricks. The picture was the same in 2025: six official calendars, none rated below 5+, and no Duplo version. Our comparison of all five 2026 Lego Advent calendars covers the official sets for children who are ready for small pieces.

The current Duplo range has no Christmas-themed set either. Earlier versions of this guide listed 10976 Santa's Gingerbread House and two Disney sets as Duplo Advent calendars. They were ordinary Duplo sets rather than calendars, and Lego has retired all three. Lego's own holiday ideas page takes a different route: it suggests building an Advent calendar from a few Duplo bricks and hiding a small surprise in it each day.

Five Duplo sets for a homemade Advent calendar

All five sets below were listed in Lego's US and UK shops on October 4, 2026. The "per door" column spreads each set's pieces across 24 days.

Our pick for most toddlers: combine 10479 and 10477. Together they give 104 pieces for $29.98 / £26.98, which works out to four or five pieces behind each door. From age three, 10480 fills all 24 doors on its own.

10477 3 in 1 Creative Cute Pets: one piece per door

With exactly 24 pieces, 3 in 1 Creative Cute Pets gives you one piece for every door. Lego rates it for 18 months and up. The color-coded bricks build a cat, dog, rabbit, mouse, two birds or two fish, and a face piece completes each animal. Of the five sets, it is the cheapest way to fill the whole calendar. One brick is a small daily surprise, though, so the set works best as an add-on to a bigger box.

10479 Colorful Creative Box: the lowest price per piece

The Colorful Creative Box has 80 pieces for $19.99 / £17.99. At about 25 cents or 22 pence per piece, that is the lowest price per piece of the five sets. Its idea booklet shows flowers, a whale, a duck, a plane, a rocket and an ice cream. Bricks printed with 1, 2 and 3, eye pieces and a propeller make good highlights for single doors. The largest suggested model is a duck over 3.5 in (9 cm) tall, a fitting build for December 24.

10475 3 in 1 Construction Vehicles: figures from age 2

This set comes with two builder figures, so the calendar has characters as well as bricks. Its 22 pieces build three pairs of vehicles: a loader and dump truck, a digger and tow truck, or a scissor lift and a second tow truck. Lego rates it for ages 2 and up. With 22 pieces, nearly every door gets one. Give each figure a door of its own, for example the first and the last.

10472 Animal Building Game: animals and cards from age 3

The Animal Building Game has 94 pieces and double-sided picture cards. The bricks build four animals at a time, and flipping the cards turns the same bricks into four more. Together, the cards show a giraffe, whale, flamingo, frog, crocodile, snail, penguin and rabbit. For a calendar, spread the bricks for one animal across each block of six doors. Four animals are then complete on December 24, and the other four can wait until after Christmas. Some models move: the giraffe has a flexible neck, the whale wobbles and the flamingo flaps a wing. Lego rates the set for ages 3 and up.

10480 Discovery Forest with Wild Animals: one box for all 24 days

Discovery Forest is the largest set here: 131 pieces, enough to fill every door on its own at five or six pieces a day. Like the Animal Building Game, it is rated 3+. It builds two trees around a woodland play mat and includes six animals: a hedgehog, duck, squirrel, bunny, bird and fox. Put one animal behind every fourth door and the forest gets a new resident each time. Two colored lenses reveal hidden details on special bricks and on the mat, which makes a good surprise for the last door. Once built, the scene is over 12 in (31 cm) tall and 24.5 in (63 cm) wide, so plan a spot for it.

How to make a Duplo Advent calendar in five steps

  1. Choose by age first, then by budget. One set fills the calendar from $9.99 / £8.99, while two sets give more to build each day.
  2. Split the pieces into 24 portions in building order. Follow the instructions or picture cards, so early doors hold base pieces and later doors add to them. The model then grows a little every day.
  3. Save the highlights. Figures, animals, face pieces and printed bricks make the best doors. Put them on weekends and behind the last door.
  4. Pack for small children. Use numbered paper bags, envelopes or small boxes instead of plastic bags, and leave out candy or small toys that are not safe for children under three.
  5. Keep the box and instructions. Once all 24 doors are open the set is complete, and the instructions help to build the other models in the new year.

Which age suits which calendar?

  • From 18 months: 10477 and 10479 are rated 1½+. At this age an adult usually builds along, and a few big pieces a day are plenty.
  • From 2 years: 10475 adds figures and simple vehicle functions for children who like to play out short stories.
  • From 3 years: 10472 and 10480 bring cards, animals and longer builds.
  • From 5 years: the official Lego Advent calendars start here. Their small standard pieces are not suitable for children under three, so keep an older sibling's calendar away from a toddler's play area.

Lego® Duplo® Advent Calendar: FAQ

Is there a Lego Duplo Advent calendar for 1-year-olds?

No. Lego does not make a Duplo Advent calendar, and its youngest Duplo sets are rated 1½+, which means 18 months and up. In this guide, 10477 and 10479 carry that rating.

Which Duplo set suits a 2-year-old's Advent calendar?

Any of the three sets rated 1½+ or 2+ works. 10475 adds two figures, and pairing 10479 with 10477 gives four or five pieces a day for under $30 / £27.

How much does a homemade Duplo Advent calendar cost?

At Lego list prices, from $9.99 / £8.99 for 10477 alone to $79.99 / £69.99 for 10480. The 10479 and 10477 combination costs $29.98 / £26.98. Retailers can be cheaper than Lego, and our Lego deals page lists current discounts.

Conclusion

Lego does not offer a Duplo Advent calendar in 2026, but a homemade one only takes a set and 24 paper bags. For most toddlers from 18 months, our pick is the Colorful Creative Box plus 3 in 1 Creative Cute Pets: 104 pieces for $29.98 / £26.98. From age three, Discovery Forest fills every door by itself and ends up as a complete woodland scene on December 24.
