Lego Christmas decorations: sets for the tree, table, wall and mantel

The easiest way to pick a Lego Christmas decoration is to start with the spot it has to fill: a branch on the tree, the middle of the table, the front door, the mantelpiece or a sideboard for a whole winter scene. If you want one set that works in more than one of those places, our pick is the Lego Wreath 10340, 37 cm across, which hangs on four loops and also lies flat as a table centrepiece.

This guide sorts the current Lego decorations by where they go and gives Lego's stated size for each one, so you can check the space before you buy. Every set below was on sale at Lego.com in the US and in Europe when we checked on 15 October 2026, some of them on back order. It is not a list of every Christmas set: our Lego Christmas sets 2026 page covers the full range, the Christmas trees and the sets by year. We have built the Wreath and the Holiday Express Train ourselves. The 2026 sets in this guide are new, so what we say about them is on paper.

Our pick for the door, the wall or the table: the Lego Wreath

Wreath 10340

The Wreath is the most flexible decoration in Lego's range. It measures 37 × 37 cm and only 7 cm deep, so it hangs flat against a door or wall on its four loops. Laid on the table, the same 7 cm makes a low centrepiece that does not block anyone's view across it. Lego also gives a garland configuration if you would rather run it along a shelf.

You choose the colour of the berries: red, blue, white or a mix. The orange slices, cinnamon sticks and pine cones sit on posable fir foliage, so no two wreaths have to look the same. Lego describes it as a wreath for autumn and winter, and the Dutch name is even "Herfstkrans" (autumn wreath). In practice that means it can go up in November and stay until the end of January.

We built it ourselves, and to be honest, the build repeats itself a lot and gets fiddly in places. The finished wreath makes up for it. Keep it indoors: Lego sells it as home decor for the wall and the table. Our catalogue marks the Wreath as retiring soon, so this may be its last Christmas at Lego.

Lego states its sizes as "over" a figure, so treat them as minimums and leave a little room. On 15 October the US store listed the Poinsettia, the Up-Scaled Santa and the Holiday Express Train on back order; all three were available in the European stores we checked.

Ornaments for the Christmas tree

Holiday Ornament Selection 2 40862

This is the 2026 ornament set and, together with the snowmen below, the cheapest way to put Lego on a real tree. It builds four ornaments: Mrs. Claus, Cataclaws, a candy cane and a Christmas tree with a glow-in-the-dark backdrop. Each comes with a hanger. Lego only gives the size of the candy cane, about 11 cm wide, so expect palm-sized pieces rather than tiny baubles. Lego rates the set from six, so children can build the ornaments themselves.

Brick-built ornaments are solid plastic, so hang them closer to the trunk where the branches are stiffer. They also stand on their own on a shelf, and Lego suggests door handles as another place to hang them.

Snowman Ornaments 40812

Last year's set builds two snowmen with carrot noses: an adult in a top hat holding a present, about 10 cm high, and a child with glasses, a beanie and a lantern, about 8.5 cm high. Both have hanging rings. At that size they look more natural on a windowsill than at the end of a thin branch. Our catalogue lists this set as retiring soon. The earlier ornament sets, the Christmas Ornament Selection 40744 and the Gingerbread Ornaments 40642, are already retired at Lego.

Centrepieces for the table and the windowsill

Christmas Table Decoration 40743

The classic centrepiece: a red candle surrounded by red berries, golden stars and green foliage. At 18 cm high, 21 cm wide and 24 cm deep it fits the middle of a dining table without taking over. The candle is made of bricks, so there is no wax to drip on the tablecloth, and it is still there next year. Our catalogue marks this one as retiring soon as well.

Poinsettia 10370

The Poinsettia is a Botanicals set: a "Grande Italia" poinsettia with five clusters of red bracts in a woven-basket pot, 21 cm high with the pot. It suits a windowsill or a side table better than the centre of the dining table, because it is taller than it is wide. In our experience the Botanicals go down well with people who otherwise never build Lego, and they ask for dusting rather than watering. Like the wreath and the table decoration, our catalogue lists it as retiring soon.

Festive Gingerbread House 40809

The gingerbread house is the centrepiece for a family with children. It is small, 15 cm high on a footprint of 12.5 × 11.5 cm, and it opens to show Santa's desk, a fireplace and his bedroom, with a Santa minifigure. Two stickers are included. Children can play with it in December and then leave it on the table as decoration.

On the wall: the Christmas Stocking

Christmas Stocking 40958

The Stocking is 24 cm high and only 4 cm deep. It hangs on the wall from a ring, or stands on a shelf on a pop-out kickstand, which makes it one of the few decorations that fits the narrow edge of a mantelpiece. It comes filled: a Nutcracker minifigure, a gingerbread tree cookie and a candy cane stick out of the top. Holly leaves and golden stars decorate the cuff. Lego rates it 12 and up, but younger children can help with the fillings.

Santa and a countdown for the mantelpiece

Santa's Holiday Countdown 40874

This is the most useful new decoration of 2026. Santa stands on a snowy roof with his sack, and knobs on the chimney turn the number blocks as the days count down. The calendar is perpetual, so you set it up again every December rather than buying a new one. At 20 × 13 × 12 cm it fits a mantelpiece, a windowsill or the space under the tree.

It is not an advent calendar in the usual sense: there are no 24 little builds behind doors. If that is what you are after, the Lego advent calendars have their own overview.

Up-Scaled Santa Minifigure 40820

A minifigure Santa blown up to more than 27 cm, with moving arms. He can sit on the edge of a shelf or stand on the mantelpiece. The 2026 partner is the Up-Scaled Mrs. Claus Minifigure 40875: 904 pieces, about 25 cm high and 17 cm wide, with a head, arms and hands that turn. Lego gives only Santa's height, so measure the depth of your mantelpiece against Mrs. Claus's 11 cm and allow a little more for Santa.

A Winter Village scene on the sideboard

The Winter Village is Lego's Christmas village for adults: one new building every year since 2009. A single house already makes a good decoration on its own, and the scene grows from there. Our Winter Village overview lists all 18 sets by year.

Holiday House 11387

The 2026 house is a two-storey Victorian home inspired by "Jingle Bells", with a wrap-around porch, a garland, golden bells and holly on the front. A light brick makes the Christmas tree inside glow through the windows on both floors. Outside are a snowman and a horse-drawn sleigh; push the sleigh and the horse moves. Four minifigures are included. The house needs 28 × 14 cm of floor space and 21 cm of height, which fits on most sideboards and on deeper shelves.

The Winter Village houses we have built are all open at the back, so plan a spot against a wall or turn the open side away from the room. The built-in light brick is enough for a single house. If you later want to light a whole village, add-on lighting kits work, but across several houses they can cost more than you expect.

Holiday Express Train 10361

The train is the piece that turns a shelf of houses into a scene. It has four cars: a locomotive with a bobbing smokestack, a coal tender, a flatcar with a bell-ringing polar bear and an end car with a furnished interior. The 16-piece circular track is meant to go around the tree, and the train itself is 49 cm long. Lego does not state the diameter of the circle, so measure the track before you plan a spot under a small tree.

You push the train by hand out of the box. A Powered Up motor, hub and remote turn it into a running railway; our first Lego train guide lists the parts. When we motorised ours, it took some adjusting before it ran evenly, so allow time for that rather than doing it on Christmas Eve.

For a closer look at an older house, read our Holiday Main Street 10308 review. If the village outgrows the sideboard, our guide to Lego display shelves covers depths and load.

The big one: a Lego Christmas tree for the whole family

Family Christmas Tree 41843

This is a tree you build, not one you decorate. Closed, it is 46 cm high, 33 cm wide and 35 cm deep. Panels open to four rooms: a kitchen, Santa's workshop, a canteen and a games room for the elves. Knobs run a train in the base and turn the hands of the kitchen clock. Santa, Mrs. Claus, five elves, a sleigh and a reindeer are included.

With 3,171 pieces and a rating of 9 and up, it is a December project for the whole family rather than a quick decoration. After Christmas it separates into sections for storage. The smaller Christmas Tree 40573 from 2022 is retired at Lego, so this is the only Christmas tree Lego still sells.

Putting Lego decorations away after Christmas

Plan the storage before the boxes go in the recycling. We have tried storing built Winter Village houses, and they tend to come out of storage with parts that need repairing. Two methods work: take the models apart and rebuild them next year, or pack them in large boxes with paper between them and accept that a few loose parts will need putting back. Ornaments, the stocking and the countdown are small enough to keep built in a single box. The wreath is flat, so it can be stored lying down.

Lego Christmas decorations FAQ

Which Lego Christmas decorations are suitable for children?

The two ornament sets are rated 6 and up and are the easiest to build alone. The gingerbread house (10 and up), Santa's Holiday Countdown and the up-scaled figures (10 and up) suit older children. The Wreath, the Poinsettia and the Winter Village sets are rated 18 and up because they are display models, not toys.

Is there a Lego Christmas tree?

Yes. The Family Christmas Tree 41843 is the tree Lego sells at the moment: 46 cm high, with rooms inside. The smaller Christmas Tree 40573 from 2022 is retired, so you can only buy remaining retailer stock or a used set.

Can I hang the Lego Wreath on my front door?

Lego describes the Wreath as indoor home decor for the wall and the table. We would hang it on an inside door or a wall rather than outdoors.

Which Lego Christmas decoration should you buy?

Start with the place you want to decorate:

  • Front door, wall or table: Wreath 10340.
  • The tree: Holiday Ornament Selection 2 40862, and Snowman Ornaments 40812 while they last.
  • The dining table: Christmas Table Decoration 40743, or the Festive Gingerbread House 40809 for children.
  • Windowsill or side table: Poinsettia 10370.
  • Wall or narrow mantel edge: Christmas Stocking 40958.
  • Mantelpiece: Santa's Holiday Countdown 40874, or the Up-Scaled Santa 40820 with Mrs. Claus 40875.
  • Sideboard scene: Holiday House 11387, with the Holiday Express Train 10361 around the tree.
  • A family project: Family Christmas Tree 41843.
