Lego does not currently sell a Duplo marble run, so the track has to come from another maker. Original Hubelino run elements are designed for Duplo-size bricks and sit directly on them. Kumetic adapters let Duplo bricks support standard GraviTrax, a system rated from eight. GraviTrax Junior and HABA Kullerbü are separate systems that do not connect to Duplo.
Choose the Hubelino Basic Building Box 420480 for a complete first run from age four, the 55-piece set 420473 if you own plenty of plain Duplo bricks, GraviTrax BASE 22410 with adapters from eight, GraviTrax Junior Jungle 27499 from three and HABA Kullerbü 300439 from two. On the Lego side, Duplo Colorful Creative Box 10479 is the reference: its 26 plain 2x2 bricks can become towers under Hubelino track.
Which marble runs connect to Duplo?
| Product | Connection to Duplo | Age | What's in the box | Instructions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hubelino Basic Building Box 420480 | Direct: designed for Duplo-size bricks | 4+ | 123 pieces: 50 run elements, 67 blocks, 2 baseplates, 4 marbles | Printed booklet plus free plans |
| Hubelino 55-Piece Run Elements Set 420473 | Direct: designed for Duplo-size bricks | 4+ | 55 pieces: 51 run elements, 4 marbles; no blocks or baseplate | Free downloadable plans |
| Lego Duplo Colorful Creative Box 10479 | Duplo itself: bricks for the towers | 18 months+ (bricks only) | 80 pieces, including 26 plain 2x2 bricks | Small models such as a whale and a rocket |
| Lego Duplo Green Building Plate 10460 | Duplo itself: a base for track-only packs | 18 months+ (plate only) | 1 plate, 16 × 16 studs | None needed |
| Kumetic adapter blocks P010 | Adapter: standard GraviTrax to Duplo, not Junior | Not stated (GraviTrax: 8+) | 20 pairs of adapter blocks | Not stated |
| Ravensburger GraviTrax BASE Starter-Set 22410 | Only through adapters | 8+ | Over 120 parts | Example tracks and instructions |
| Ravensburger GraviTrax Junior Starter-Set L Jungle 27499 | None: separate system | 3 to 7 | 100 pieces: 6 baseplates, height tiles, bridge, hammer, seesaw, decoration, 3 marbles | Included |
| HABA Kullerbü Spiral Track Set 300439 | None: separate system | 2+ | 26 pieces: wooden tracks, connectors, columns, bell gate, 2 balls of 4.6 cm | Not stated |
Read the connection column first. Direct track sits on Duplo bricks, the adapter route needs Kumetic adapters in between, and a separate system does not connect to your bricks. None of these runs has a fixed assembled size, because every layout differs, so compare what is in the box instead.
Original Hubelino: track that sits directly on Duplo-size bricks
Hubelino's original marble run is built for large bricks of Duplo size: the run elements sit directly on top, and plain bricks underneath form the towers. The German maker describes its runs as compatible with building blocks from other manufacturers but does not name Duplo. Besides the two sets below, Hubelino makes a 45-piece Mini Building Box 420169 and a 213-piece Big Building Box 420572.
Hubelino Basic Building Box 420480: the complete first marble run
- Pieces: 123 (50 run elements, 67 building blocks, 2 baseplates of 140 studs, 4 marbles)
- Age: 4 and up; small marbles, not for children under three
- Instructions: printed booklet; four official plans are also free to download
- Connection: direct, designed for Duplo-size bricks

The Basic box is the easiest start because it works without any Duplo at all. Track, towers, base and marbles arrive together, and an illustrated booklet guides the first builds. A cardboard carrying case with a handle keeps every piece in one place, marbles included.
Choose it if your Duplo collection is small, mostly figures and vehicles, or built into sets you want to keep. Later, plain Duplo bricks can raise the same track, because the run elements sit on Duplo bricks too.
A large Duplo household gets less from this box, since many of its 67 blocks duplicate bricks you already own. The 55-piece set below brings nearly the same track, 51 run elements against 50, without blocks or plates.
Hubelino 55-Piece Run Elements Set 420473: track for a large Duplo collection
- Pieces: 55 (51 run elements, 4 marbles)
- Not included: building blocks and baseplate
- Age: 4 and up; small marbles
- Instructions: free downloadable plans; the maker's product page lists no booklet
- Connection: direct, designed for Duplo-size bricks

This pack is the track of a Hubelino box without its structure, so your Duplo collection supplies the towers and the base. Hubelino says every Mini and Basic plan can be built with it, provided you already have enough bricks.
Enough means a sizeable collection. Hubelino's own free plans for this pack use roughly 47 to 63 plain bricks plus a baseplate, either two 140-stud plates or one with 560 studs. Count only plain bricks such as 2x2 and 2x4. Figures, animals and vehicles decorate a run, but they cannot hold up a tower.
Choose the 55-piece set when a big tub of Duplo bricks is waiting for a new use. If you lack a plate or enough plain bricks, add the two Lego items below or pick the Basic box instead.
Duplo bricks and a base to build on
A track-only pack needs two things from your Duplo: plain bricks for towers and a flat base. Both Lego items below are rated from 18 months, but that age belongs to the bricks alone. Once Hubelino marbles roll over them, the run's own 4+ rating applies.
Lego Duplo Colorful Creative Box 10479: plain bricks for towers
- Pieces: 80
- Age: 18 months and up
- 26 plain 2x2 bricks for marble run towers
The Colorful Creative Box is the Lego reference here because 32 of its 80 pieces are plain bricks for towers. Its parts inventory lists 26 plain 2x2 bricks, four 2x4 bricks and two tall 1x2x2 bricks. Alongside them come numbered bricks, bows, plates and flowers, plus instructions for small models such as a whale, a duck and a rocket.
Those 32 bricks top up a collection rather than replace one. They come to about half of the 63 that Hubelino's bigger plan for the 55-piece set uses, so combine the box with bricks you already own.
It makes most sense if you are buying the 55-piece set and have a toddler in the house. From 18 months, the younger child can use the same bricks as an ordinary Duplo set. Store the marbles separately, so the bricks can go back into the toddler's tub without them.
Lego Duplo Green Building Plate 10460: a base for track-only packs
- Pieces: 1
- Age: 18 months and up
- 16 × 16 studs, a base for track-only packs
The green plate supplies the base that the 55-piece set lacks, and Hubelino's plans for that pack start from a baseplate. At 16 × 16 studs, it offers 256 studs, slightly fewer than the 280 on the two 140-stud plates that one Hubelino plan uses. Because the square shape differs from Hubelino's 10 × 14 plates, expect to adapt a plan rather than copy it stud for stud.
Skip it if your collection already has a Duplo plate or you choose the Basic box, which includes two. Its retired predecessor 10980 measured 24 × 24 studs, so the current plate is noticeably smaller.
Adapters: standard GraviTrax on Duplo supports
Standard GraviTrax does not fit Duplo on its own. Adapter blocks sit between the two systems, so Duplo bricks can form towers under GraviTrax track. This route suits older children: Ravensburger rates GraviTrax from eight, and the adapters do not fit GraviTrax Junior.
Kumetic adapter blocks P010: Duplo towers for standard GraviTrax
- Contents: 20 pairs of adapter blocks (40 parts)
- Connection: links standard GraviTrax building elements to Duplo bricks
- Not compatible: GraviTrax Junior, as Kumetic itself states
- Age: not stated by the maker; the GraviTrax system it joins is 8+
Kumetic's adapters suit one situation: a child of eight or older who builds with GraviTrax while a box of Duplo sits in the cupboard. Those bricks then become towers in a GraviTrax layout, so the collection gets a second use.
They add no track, marbles or baseplates, so plan for two purchases. Kumetic states no age of its own, which leaves the 8+ rating of the GraviTrax set as your guide. Compared with Hubelino, this is the longer route: a separate system, an adapter in between and a higher age.
Ravensburger GraviTrax BASE Starter-Set 22410: the system the adapters plug into
- Parts: over 120, according to Ravensburger
- Age: 8 and up; not for children under 36 months (small marbles)
- Included: example tracks and instructions
- Connection to Duplo: none directly, only through adapters

BASE 22410 is a standard GraviTrax starter set with example tracks and instructions in the box. The CORE, PRO and POWER lines combine with it later, so the layout can keep growing after the Duplo years.
Age is the deciding factor. Ravensburger recommends the set from eight and warns against use under 36 months because of its small marbles. Buy it when the child is ready for GraviTrax itself; the Duplo adapters are an optional extra rather than the reason to choose it. Hubelino, by comparison, sits on Duplo directly from age four.
Separate systems for younger children
GraviTrax Junior and HABA Kullerbü do not connect to Duplo. Both are complete systems, so choose them for age, ball size and play style rather than for your bricks.
Ravensburger GraviTrax Junior Starter-Set L Jungle 27499: a marble world from age three
- Pieces: 100
- Age: 3 to 7; not for children under 36 months (small balls and parts)
- Included: 6 hexagonal baseplates, height tiles, bridge, hammer, seesaw, jungle decoration and 3 marbles of 20 mm
- Instructions: included
- Connection to Duplo: none; Kumetic adapters do not fit Junior

Junior is GraviTrax for younger children, and this starter set is rated from three to seven. Hexagonal baseplates and stacking height tiles take the place of bricks, while the bridge, hammer and seesaw add actions along the route. In the US, the same 27499 box is also sold as Starter-Set Jungle or My Jungle.
Pick it for a three-year-old, or when a themed jungle scene appeals more than an open brick build. It starts a year earlier than Hubelino and comes with its own instructions. Its 20 mm marbles are even smaller than Hubelino's 24.5 mm spare marbles, so keep them away from younger siblings too.
The trade-off is lock-in. Junior parts combine with other Junior products, and Ravensburger's adapter set links them with standard GraviTrax. Neither route reaches Duplo.
HABA Kullerbü Spiral Track Set 300439: big balls from age two
- Pieces: 26
- Age: 2 and up (HABA USA lists 2 to 6 years)
- Balls: two, about 4.6 cm (1 3/4 in) in diameter
- Included: wooden track sections, plastic connectors, columns and a bell gate
- Connection to Duplo: none; track parts sit on connector pins

Kullerbü is the run in this guide for the youngest children. Its balls are about 4.6 cm across, nearly twice the diameter of Hubelino's 24.5 mm spare marbles, and HABA rates the set from age two. Each track part has a hole underneath and sits on a connector pin.
A steep ball curve, wooden curves, columns and the bell gate form the starter route, and HABA makes the set in Germany. It combines with every other Kullerbü track, so the run can grow with the child.
Like Junior, it does not connect to your Duplo bricks, and expansion means more Kullerbü rather than more Duplo. In a household with a two-year-old, that separate run with large balls lets the youngest join in.
Age, marbles and safety
Ball size is the clearest safety difference between these runs. Spare Hubelino marbles measure 24.5 mm, GraviTrax Junior marbles 20 mm and Kullerbü balls about 4.6 cm. Hubelino warns of small parts and small marbles and rules out children under three. Both GraviTrax sets carry a not-under-36-months warning for small balls, and Kullerbü is the only run here rated below three.
Follow the age on each box you add, not the 18-month rating of the Duplo bricks underneath. A tower of toddler bricks becomes part of a 4+ toy under Hubelino track and part of an 8+ toy under GraviTrax.
Younger siblings are the risk to plan for in a Duplo household. Hubelino's own safety assessment names this case: in homes with toddlers, the run can be mistaken for a toddler toy. Build where the youngest cannot reach, count the marbles back after play and store them in a closed box. Our Lego age guide explains how box ages and small-parts warnings differ.
Questions parents ask about Duplo marble runs
Does Lego make a Duplo marble run?
Not at present. Lego's current Duplo range has no marble run, so every option in this guide comes from another maker. Your Duplo bricks can still carry original Hubelino track directly, or standard GraviTrax through adapters.
Can GraviTrax Junior connect to Duplo?
Not directly. Junior is a separate system, and Kumetic states that its adapters do not fit it. The Duplo adapters covered here work with standard GraviTrax, which starts at eight.
Is Hubelino pi made for Duplo?
No. Hubelino pi is a separate, much smaller system for builders from eight, and it uses steel marbles. Only the original Hubelino line is designed for Duplo-size bricks, so make sure the name does not include pi before you order.
Which Duplo marble run should you choose?
- Starting from scratch with a four-year-old: Hubelino Basic Building Box 420480, with track, 67 blocks, two baseplates and four marbles in one box.
- Large Duplo collection: Hubelino 55-Piece Run Elements Set 420473, plus Green Building Plate 10460 for a base and Colorful Creative Box 10479 if plain bricks run short.
- Child of eight or older: GraviTrax BASE Starter-Set 22410, with Kumetic adapters if the Duplo bricks should join in.
- Three-year-old: GraviTrax Junior Starter-Set L Jungle 27499, a complete themed set that stays separate from Duplo.
- Two-year-old: HABA Kullerbü Spiral Track Set 300439, with balls of about 4.6 cm.
