When do new Lego® sets come out?
Lego releases new sets throughout the year, almost always on the first day of a month. The biggest wave arrives on 1 January: in 2026, most themes launched new sets that day, from Star Wars, Harry Potter and Technic to Icons, Ideas, Architecture and Botanicals. A second large wave follows in the summer, on 1 June and 1 August. Large display sets for adults and seasonal products such as the Advent calendars often launch in the autumn, ahead of Black Friday and Christmas.
Some sets go on sale a few days early for members of Lego Insiders, Lego's free loyalty programme. In 2026, for example, Insiders could buy Minas Tirith (11377) from 1 June, three days before it went on general sale on 4 June. Very large sets can also be pre-ordered months in advance: the Sagrada Família (21065) was available to pre-order from June 2026, with a release date of 1 November 2026. How the programme works, including points and early access, is explained in our guide to Lego® Insiders.
New Lego® sets 2026: the releases that stand out
As of early October 2026, our catalogue lists around 610 sets with a 2026 release date. Star Wars and City lead the themes with 34 new sets each. These are the developments that have shaped the year so far.
Pokémon arrives
Lego launched its first Pokémon sets on 27 February 2026. The largest of them, Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise (72153), has 6,838 pieces and shows the final evolutions of the three Kanto starter Pokémon. Pokémon already has 22 sets in our 2026 list; all of them are on our Lego® Pokémon page.
SMART Play brings electronics into the brick
At CES in January 2026, Lego presented SMART Play, a system built around a Smart Brick with motion and colour sensors and a speaker. The first three Star Wars SMART Play sets went on sale on 1 March 2026, and the Pokémon range has SMART Play sets as well.
Record-breaking display sets for adults
Several of the year's biggest sets are aimed at adult builders. Minas Tirith (11377) continues the Lord of the Rings line in Lego Icons with 8,278 pieces. The Executor Super Star Destroyer (75457) is a new Ultimate Collector Series flagship with 6,130 pieces, released on 1 October 2026. With 12,060 pieces, the Sagrada Família (21065) is the largest Lego set to date by piece count.

Coming next: new Lego® sets for January 2027
Lego usually reveals the first sets of a new year in the autumn, often in several batches between October and December. Until Lego has announced a set officially, everything you read about it is a rumour. On 1 January 2027 the list above switches to the 2027 releases. The 2026 sets stay in our database with their full price history.
Buy at launch or wait?
That depends on where a set is sold. Some sets are only available from Lego itself, on Lego.com and in the Lego Stores; the Lego exclusives are rarely discounted. Buying them from Lego earns Insiders points, and Lego regularly adds a free gift with purchase (GWP) above a minimum spend. Some large sets start as Lego exclusives and only reach other shops later, if at all.
Sets sold through regular retail can be discounted by other shops soon after release. How quickly that happens depends on the set and the retailer, so compare the current offers in the list above before you buy. The new arrivals in the Lego Shop show Lego's own launch prices for comparison.
New Lego® sets: frequently asked questions
When are new Lego® sets released?
Usually on the first day of a month. The largest waves arrive on 1 January and in the summer, on 1 June and 1 August. Lego Insiders sometimes get access a few days before the general release.
What are the biggest new Lego® sets of 2026?
By piece count, the Sagrada Família (21065) with 12,060 pieces, Minas Tirith (11377) with 8,278 and Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise (72153) with 6,838 pieces.
Where does Lego® announce new sets?
Officially in the Lego newsroom and on its coming soon page. Rumours and leaks circulate earlier in fan communities such as the Eurobricks forums, but they are not confirmed until Lego announces the set.
Is there still a Lego® catalogue?
Yes, but mainly in digital form on Lego.com. In the US, Lego no longer mails paper catalogues on a regular basis.
When is the best time to buy a new Lego® set?
For Lego exclusives, buy from Lego, ideally during a promotion with a gift with purchase or extra Insiders points. For widely available sets, compare offers: other retailers may sell them below Lego's price soon after launch.
Why does this list only show 2026 sets?
The list follows the calendar year. On 1 January it switches to the new year's releases. Older sets remain available in our database, including their price history.
