With this article we continue our investment series and present you our top 5 Lego Investment Sets 2023 under $50. The sets stand out due to different factors. These include, among other things, exclusive minifigures that are included in the sets. Especially the Star Wars theme is known for exclusive minifigures. Accordingly, many of the Top 5 retiring Lego Star Wars Sets 2023 are also characterized by exclusive minifigures.

1. Lego® BrickHeadz 40622 Disney 100th Celebration
The Lego® BrickHeadz 40622 Disney 100th Celebration appeared in February 2023 as part of Disney's 100th anniversary. According to current information, the BrickHeadz will already retire at the end of the year. This corresponds to a very short market life of not quite one year, which is particularly interesting from an investment point of view. Usually, Lego sets are available on the market for two to three years before they are no longer produced.
With a RRP of $49.99 and a current POV (Part out Value) of about $80, the set is also interesting for single part dealers, e.g., sell on BrickLink.
The average parts price of the set is about 7.8 cents, which is a good value.
Anniversary set with imprint
On the packaging of the BrickHeadz is a 100th anniversary Disney print, which makes the set especially interesting for collectors. Most recently, there had been a similar print in the Star Wars theme.
For example, sets with a similar imprint were released for the 20th Lego Star Wars anniversary. However, it must be noted that the sets also included exclusive minifigures, which positively influenced the value development. An example of this is the set that has increased in value by around 207% in relation to the RRP to date.
In the case of the Disney BrickHeadz, we may also assume that the imprint influences the subsequent performance. But not to the extent that is the case with the Star Wars sets.
BrickHeadz coveted by collectors
The Disney 100th Anniversary BrickHeadz has a large target audience, which includes fans of the Disney films as well as Lego® fan and collectors.
BrickHeadz in general have a high collector value, this is related, among other things, to the fact that they are numbered. If a collector wants to complete his collection, he will probably buy the missing sets.
For fans of the Disney movies, the BrickHeadz is particularly interesting, so it is not just one BrickHeadz, but four in smaller form. These represent well-known Disney characters:
- Oswald (first Disney character)
- Mickey Mouse (first cartoon character)
- Snow White
- Tinker Bell (first Disneyland mascot)
The Lego BrickHeadz 40622 Disney 100th Celebration has good investment potential overall. It is important to note that the set is exclusively distributed by the Danish brick manufacturer. Consequently, the BrickHeadz can only be purchased with collecting Lego VIP points and the combination with GWPs below the RRP.
2. Lego® Speed Champions 76911 007 Aston Martin DB5
In addition to BrickHeadz, Lego® Speed Champions are also popular with collectors. The Lego Speed Champions 76911 007 Aston Martin DB5 appeared in August 2023 and is expected to retire by the end of the year.
The Part Out Value of about $44 is in an acceptable relation to the RRP, which is $24.99.
Large James Bond fan base
Unlike most other Speed Champion, the Aston Martin DB5 is not only an iconic car, but also a component of a popular film series. Accordingly, the set appeals to James Bond and car fans alike. Accordingly, the target group and also the potential demand is large, which will have a positive impact on the future performance.
In addition to an Aston Martin, the set also features a 007 James Bond license. This makes the Speed Champion particularly attractive from an investment point of view. When Lego sets have a license, they usually only have one. For this reason, the double license is to be included positively in the evaluation of the set.
Exclusive James Bond minifigure

3. Lego® BrickHeadz 40560 Professors of Hogwarts
The Lego® BrickHeadz 40560 Professors of Hogwarts appeared in June 2022 and will disappear from stores by the end of the year according to current information.
The POV of about $63 is relatively low, considering the RRP of $39.99. However, the part out value is only secondary with BrickHeadz.
BrickHeadz to the popular film series
The Harry Potter films are known worldwide and have both young and older fans. The large target group also reflects positively on the potential of a future performance. In addition, BrickHeadz have a large collection potential, which is positive for an investment set.
As with the Disney 100th Anniversary BrickHeadz, the Harry Potter BrickHeadz is not a single BrickHeadz, but four smaller ones. These are the four professors of Hogwarts, which represent well-known characters from the Harry Potter films:
- Snape
- McGonagall
- Moody
- Trelawney
Exclusive marketing by Lego®
Like many other BrickHeadz, the variant with the professors of Hogwarts is distributed exclusively by the Danish brick manufacturer itself. For this reason, the set can not be purchased below the MSRP. In this case, a combination with GWPs and VIP points is recommended to be able to buy the set below the RRP.
4. Lego® Speed Champions 76912 Fast & Furious 1970 Dodge Charger R/T
Our fourth Lego® Investment Set under $50 for the year 2023 is also a Speed Champion. The Lego Speed Champions 76912 Fast & Furious 1970 Dodge Charger R/T was released in August of last year and is expected to retire after a market run of under 18 months.
The POV of over $40 is well in proportion to the RRP, which is $24.99.
The Speed Champion represents a vehicle known from the action movie series "Fast & Furious".
Dominic Toretto as exclusive minifigure
Just like the DB5 Speed Champion, the Dodge Charger R/T also includes an exclusive minifigure. This is the protagonist of the Fast & Furious film series Dominic Toretto.
In addition to the exclusive minifigure, this Speed also has two interesting licenses that have never before been available from Lego® in this combination. These are on the one hand the Dodge car brand and on the other hand the Fast & Furious movie.
Popular Fast & Furious movie series
As already mentioned, Fast & Furious is a well-known film series, which is especially popular among teenagers and adult action fans. The Speed Champion is not interesting for both movie fans and Dodge Charger lovers.
Purchase prices of under $15 can be achieved with good offers, which is a good entry price in our opinion.
5. Lego® Harry Potter 76406 Hungarian Horntail Dragon
The Lego® Harry Potter 76406 Hungarian Horntail Dragon appeared in June 2022 and will probably retire later this year.
The Part Out Value of the set is currently about $86, which is very good and makes the Hungarian Horntail also interesting for single parts dealers.
The Hungarian Horntail is a well-known opponent of the main protagonist Harry Potter from the Harry Potter movies. As part of the Triwizard Tournament known from the movies, it was the task of Harry Potter to fight against the Horntail. Accordingly, the set is primarily interesting for Harry Potter fans. However, this target group is large, which is significant for an investment set.
Value appreciation potential through exclusive minifigure
The past years have made it clear that Lego® sets with exclusive minifigures are particularly suitable for an investment. The Hungarian Horntail also includes an exclusive minifigure.
Nameplate interesting for collectors
A small nameplate makes the set especially suitable to be displayed, which makes it interesting for collectors.
On sale, the Hungarian Horntail can regularly be bought for under $30, which in our opinion is a solid purchase price.
